Premiering in 1995, the Miss Blue Revue Pageant is a bi-annual pageant and fundraising event for girls ages 4 – 12. In 2008, the pageant also included a crowning of Miss Blue Idol for execeptional talent. Funds collected are used to support our Marynette Bonner Lovejoy Book Scholarship, which allows KIZ to finacially assist deserving young women in the Atlanta area as they pursue higher education. In fact, several scholarship award recipients have been previous Miss Blue Revue contestants.
Leading up to the pageant, the Blue Revue contestants participate in "BlueTastic-BlueFabulous-BlueSational Saturdays" designed to instill pride, self esteem, honesty and integrity. Contestants also learn respect for self and others, develop skills and a sense of responsibility. Past activities have included the following:
- A Homemade Ice Cream Making Social
- National Black Storytellers Conference (in Atlanta) trip
- Jewelry Making Party
- Runway Modeling Workshop and Fashion Show
- Mother Daughter Tea
- Stepping Workshop and Step Show
